CiB Let's Try - Battletoads/Double Dragon (SNES)
Battletoads/Double Dragon was released first for the NES in June 1993, receiving fairly quick ports to the SNES and Genesis in December 1993. Regardless, the game was developed by Rare, and published by Tradewest, who generally published the rest of the Double Dragon games.
Knowing now that the NES version came out a few months before the other versions, I'm fairly convinced that Battletoads/Double Dragon was originally developed for the NES, and that version was ported to the SNES/Genesis. At least, that would make sense, as the general presentation (graphics, sound) is pretty underwhelming for a late 1993 release for the 16-bit generation.
I've never been a huge fan of Battletoads for the NES, and find it to be one of the most overrated 'classics', so it's not a huge surprise that I find Battletoads/Double Dragon to be very average. It's not a bad game by any means, but there certainly are a good number of better brawlers on the SNES -- many of which were released years before this game. That being said, if you're looking for a solid, if unspectacular crossover beat 'em up, you can certainly do worse. Thanks for watching!
