CiB Let's Try - King's Field: The Ancient City (PS2)
King's Field: The Ancient City (known elsewhere as King's Field IV) was released on October 4, 2001 as a PS2 exclusive --- making this a pretty early PS2 game, and it shows!
It was developed by FromSoftware, who went on to do some very popular games such as the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring, and published in America by AgeTec (well, can't win 'em all, AgeTec).
Let me just start by saying I am absolutely 100% the polar opposite of who should be playing this game. This game is: a) vague, b) difficult, c) slow, d) sprawling. I honestly hate all 4 of those words in video games --- I make an exception for 'slow' if it's in a point and click or adventure game.
I will give King's Field: The Ancient City credit in that people who -like- games like this will most likely love it. It looks solid for an early PS2 game (especially the beginning cutscene) and it really gives you lots of options to customize your otherwise nameless and featureless character. There's no way this game is worth the price of admission for the physical copy, but if you're a fan of FromSoftware games, you might want to play this one 'any way you can' - thanks for watching!
