CiB Let's Try - Power Punch II (NES)
Power Punch II was released on June 12, 1992 as a NES exclusive. It was developed by Beam Software, who also developed the infamous Back to the Future games for NES, as well as Star Wars (NES), and Punisher (NES). That's right -- Beam Software developed a lot of those infamous LJN NES games. Power Punch II was published by American Softworks (ASC Games), who published a ton of garbage from 1992-2000.
I'm going to start out by saying that I am -extremely- biased against this game. Power Punch II was a game we owned as kids (we never owned Punch-Out!! for whatever reason), and I hated it then, and I hate it now. I hated it -before- I knew it was a spiritual sequel to Punch-Out!!. I hated it -before- I found out years later that everybody generally dislikes it.
Power Punch II takes a really good idea -- Punch-Out!! in space -- and just makes it so lame. It takes way too many punches to take down your opponents, the movements are lame, the controls aren't tight, the game is ugly - ugh. And may I add --- ugh. Regardless, thank you very much for watching!
