CiB Let's Try - Gun-Nac (NES)
Gun-Nac was released as a NES exclusive in September, 1991. It was developed by Compile, who also made the excellent The Guardian Legend for NES, as well as Blazing Lasers for the Turbo-Grafx 16, and the really good version of Ghostbusters on the Sega Genesis. It was published by ASCII Corporation, who also published Clock Tower for PS1, so they are automatically based forever.
Ahh, now I see why this game is so sought after and expensive. Compile's list of developed games is incredible, and Gun-Nac is no exception. It plays absolutely smoothly with very little to no slowdown (something seen pretty often on the NES), the control is great, the weapons are awesome, there's a shop you can buy upgrades from -- yep, this game has it all.
I am a bit surprised that Gun-Nac was released in 1990 --- not always, but generally, games that are really expensive for the NES were released much about the SNES's release in 1991 (generally 1992 and later). I suppose the excellence of this game speaks volumes in the cartridge's price.
That being said, if you're a fan of shooters at all, you really ought to try this one out, any way you can. Thanks for watching!
