Clannazo [クラナゾ] Game Sample - PC/Doujin
I'll keep this one brief folks. It's a top-down Clannad competitive shooting Doujin game for up to four players. It was produced by studio "Lion Heart" in 2004 who are best known for "Kanonix" (and its lesser-known "Plus" variant) which was a pretty fun action-platformer with pretty good music. This game is slightly less fun, but the genre is also not as common within the Doujin community, so it adds a little something to the overall staple of Doujin games. The basic aim is to pick your favorite heroine (or hero) from Key's "Clannad" franchise to duke it out with toy ray guns called "Zollion" to see who is the strongest.
The game has a few very basic stock options (no U.I. or graphics configurations) and three main modes: Single Player, Multiplayer and Team Battle. Each character has different abilities ranging from movement and shot speed, rate of fire, bullet size, bullet pattern, bullet power, bullet quantity (before reloading) and a signature "Skill Burst" special attack which consumes a gauge of special energy. Skill bursts can range from shooting tons of bullets to shooting a powerful beam of energy to even a "Raging Demon" grabbing special move. Besides these differences, each character can dash which makes them briefly invulnerable and execute a "Reflection Burst" for one gauge that reflects any incoming bullets back at the attacker (it's frankly a waste of a gauge).
Every character can slowly increase their special gauge energy by shooting or taking damage, and once a character is defeated, they will roam the field as a ghost. When in ghost form, you can slowly move around just to irritate the living players (touching them will rapidly drain their special energy). There are also blocks to use for cover with two additional special blocks: blue and red. Blue blocks will cause bullets to ricochet while red blocks will eventually explode when shot enough times; characters caught in these explosions will sustain massive damage.
The game will log your high score and players will also be scored based on how much damage they've done, how many reflection and skill bursts they've done, etc. The audio / visuals are nothing to particularly write home about, although there is special mention of the music in one of the game's text files while also giving credit to legends like ZUN (of Touhou fame) and Nobuo Uematsu (of worldwide acclaim, most notable for his work with the Final Fantasy series). The game can be modest fun if you could ever get four people to play with you and considering about three or four people worked on it, it's not bad.
This is a video of the game in action. You can find this one at:
