Collecting Anime Girls In A Deckbuilder Roguelike | Super Bullet Break - Part 1
1Hello everyone! Here we are with another game that is part of this Steam Deckbuilder Fest. This is Super Bullet Break, a quite interesting mix of deckbuilder roguelike with creature collector, where the creature that you are collecting are waifus or anime girls. To be honest, it is not my kind of thing, but I got it from the developers, who wanted their game to reach to more people, so I was like "why not? Maybe there is a lot of people who like this kind of stuff and they don't know about this game, and who knows, it could be fun", so I just went for it and gave it a try. And I gotta be honest with you here, it was pretty interesting and fun, but with a few issues. Starting for the fact that keyboard and mouse controls feel awkward... Yes, you would think that in this kind of game you just click and deliver, but it wasn't like that, and maybe that's the reason why I somehow skipped the tutorial (that hit me hard). So you will hear me complaining a lot about the lack of tutorial, but it is there, I just skipped it somehow.
The gameplay it reminded me a little bit to Cardterrupters, where every enemy will play their turn in a certain order, and they might all or just some of them do it after you, depending on how much energy you used, and that is what I missed and that is why I am going to give this game another shot. Besides that, the rest of it is pretty easy to understand. You attack, you defend, you apply debuffs and get buff; a few of the main differences being that you don't discard your hand by the end of the turn, and that your cards/creatures/waifus come with extra modifiers, like in RPGs. So you might have two, three or five copies of the same card, but they all will be different because of the modifiers, called cartridges. Sadly, they show up when you are checking your deck, but they won't show up while you are fighting, which I don't understand why... It would be way more confortable to just have them there too (or have the option to show/hide that extra info). It is the same with types; every girl has different and several types, and there is no way I will be memorizing that, so please allow me to see it in the middle of the battle.
Finally, I felt overwhelmed in the second act, but I will have to replay this to be sure (because I also felt like I couldn't get any kind of synergy at all in this deck).
On the other hand, If you are here for the anime girls, they are here, they are a lot and probably, if that is your thing, you are gonna like them, because there is a lot of variety in that aspect.
