In this episode, we head off to the next kingdom, the Sand Kingdom! It’s a vast desert, home to a Mexican-inspired village called Tostarena, a series of ruins, and a massive inverted pyramid. However, it’s not doing too good as the entire place is currently filled with ice. Tostarena is home to the Binding Band, a giant wedding ring, which Bowser is trying to take to use in his wedding. Caitlin and I set off for the top of the ruins, because that’s what the game tells us to do. But first, we head into Crazy Cap, the Mario world’s local retail chain. They sell clothes and souvenirs for Mario to purchase, including a sombrero and poncho. After that, we head for the ruins, which are crawling with bullet bills. By possessing them, we find a whole bunch of Power Moons. We also go down a whirlpool of sand, which leads to a secret ice cave. On the other side is Jaxi, a taxi creature which helps us speed around the massive desert. Eventually, after a couple of 2D sections we reach the top of the tower, collecting another Moon and ending the video.
Super Mario Odyssey is a video game developed by Nintendo for the the Nintendo Switch. It is the 6th installment in the 3D Mario Series, and as such, is a 3D platformer. The game is a return to the open exploration style of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. This means that Mario searches for a large amount of collectibles in larger worlds, as opposed to straightforward one-track levels. The game features a co-op mode, giving one player platforming duty and the other Cappy duty. Cappy is the main gimmick of Super Mario Odyssey, as he gives Mario more platforming options, but also the ability to possess enemies to access new abilities. Super Mario Odyssey is one of the few video games that my sister Caitlin seems to love, so it seemed like the perfect fit to play with her on this channel!
