In this episode, I explore even more of World 5, Juicy Jungle. I start by taking on level 5-5 Jelly Jamboree. It’s a short level, but it’s fun. It features blocks of jello which are bounced on. There are different colors of jello which all have different effects, such as making Donkey Kong bounce higher, or platforms come from the background. Then, I take on another short level, 5-6 Frosty Fruits. The level shows the final progression of the fruits harvested from the jungle: they’ve been turned into popsicles! The frozen popsicles act as platforms, but they start falling from their sticks when stood upon. Finally, I go through level 5-A Beehive Brawl, which is a level filled with (obviously) bees! Giant beehives hang from the background on giant strings of sticky honey. In certain sections, you have to grab onto pieces of fruit being carried by bees over abysses!
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a video game developed by Retro Studios, a subsidiary of Nintendo, for the Wii U and Nintendo Switch. It was released in 2014, and re released for the Switch in 2018. It is a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns, which originally released for the Wii in 2010. Tropical Freeze is a 2D platformer known for its beautiful backgrounds, well thought-out design, partner-based powerups, and phenomenal soundtrack composed by David Wise. It is, in my opinion, one of the best platformers ever made, and it is criminally underrated. That’s why I intend to show it off!
