If your version of Red Alert 2 has stopped working suddenly try the following:

Open a command prompt window as an Administrator and type in the following commands:

sc config secdrv start= demand

sc start secdrv

(press enter after each line)

Apparently the problem is due to a Windows update which turns off the service for the secdrv.sys driver. Apparently having it turnd on can make your PC more susceptible to viruses and malware though, so it's recommended that you manually stop the driver's service when it's not needed using the command:

sc stop secdrv
