Lately i've been toying with trackers a lot, and the awesomeness of Commodore's SID stuck me. After composing some tunes for our Delve Deeper game, I couldn't stop experimenting with this awesome machine.
Being fully aware that I still need to learn a lot on this tool, I felt like sharing a chiptune of mine as this week's content.
I'm not chasing some form of achievement, it's merely another purpouse I found along the way and it's now staying with me. And it's been a pleasure for me.
I hope you enjoy it too.
Some technical stuff. This is realbit chiptune. This song is composed on GoatTracker for the MOS Sid. The target machine is C64, as everyone of you already can imagine. We've got 8 bit, three voices, triangle, sawtooth, square waves + noise and couple filters to play with. The SID is an awesome chip, and really I feel like I am pushing 1% out of it. So expect more to come in the future. I wanted this song to sound like techno/vaporwave/house-ish, while at the same time "sounding very commodore". I hope to have nailed it.
Time for some kudos. My friend Koopacommando inspired me to do this. I had this strong sense that I am no musician, so making music is a place I don't belong. He awakened my punk soul telling me to go for it. Maurice De Ville captured in a picture some of the aesthetic I put on this track. The picture you see is his, and I really love it. N0l4n, SoundOfGames, Dubstorm helped me visualizing how this video should be while Griffon endured every experiment I make.
I have a lot of debts toward the https://ready64.org/ community, too long to list here. They really helped me understanding and discovering this awesome machine.
This song is for them, for the Commodore Bosozoku Gang.
I know this is a wall of text, but please understand this is a really big step for me. Yeah, I'm at a loss.
That's all for now. See you around.
