๐บ๐ธ Commodore VIC-20 Refurbish: Part 2 (Case & keyboard cleaning)
Further work on repairing and cleaning up this machine:
[1] The keyboard was disassembled and washed
[2] The three broken keys were fixed (replaced the broken key stems/plungers)
[3] Replaced the original red power LED with a new one - hopefully brighter
[4] Replaced the original power button with a new replacement (Jaycar part SK0975)
[5] Replaced the LM323 linear regulator with a modern switching version (PSU5 No Noise from www.ezsbc.com)
[6] Cleaned the motherboard & case
Close-up of the capacitors for@MrWaalkman at 27:22.
And ... surprise ... when all the chips were re-installed ... it booted! It seemed a little slow (?) so perhaps the 1ยตF electrolytic capacitor (C13) that determines how long the 555 timer keeps the 6502 in reset is out-of-spec., thus causing the timer to hold the CPU in reset longer ... ?
To be continued ...
