🇺🇸 Texas Instruments Compact Computer 40 (CC-40): Part 1
A quick first look at the TI CC-40, donated by @MrWaalkman.

The main problem with "used" CC-40s on ebay is that, if they've had their batteries left in them, the display will usually be broken. This machine is "new-old-stock" so just works.
It's a bit of an orphan machine as its proposed permanent storage system, the Wafertape, was never officially released.

It does have some software released on 32KByte ROM cartridges, but that's about it.
It has a 2x4 interface called HexBus ... naturally.
The TI-74 BASICALC was a more successful follow-up - it uses a different interface called DockBus but it is possible to interwork between HexBus and DockBus pretty simply:
