Compaq LTE 5000 DOS gaming laptop cleanup and service. I partly teardown this Compaq LTE DOS gaming laptop which I picked up for a fiver at the car boot sale. According to The 8-Bit Guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2v7k-wAm2E), Compaq LTE laptops are the best laptops for DOS gaming, so I was very pleased to pick this up.

This isn't a complete DOS laptop teardown; I'm not upgrading the laptop CPU or RAM/memory at this time. I do have some plans to mod my Compaq LTE 5000 for gaming in future, but this is just an introduction to my new DOS gaming laptop.

In the video you'll see how to remove the keyboard from a Compaq LTE and some best practices for cleaning and restoring this old Compaq laptop. I'm in need of a new battery and a Compaq LTE-compatible CMOS battery, as both of these are hosed on my LTE 5000. If anyone can offer help I'll gladly accept as I can't find many resources online.

Plans for the future include an SD-card or CF mod, and potentially upgrading the CPU or RAM. For now I'm pleased as punch to have a wicked old DOS laptop which I can play really old DOS games on without fear of compatibility issues when gaming.
