Just some thoughts on Conquest of Elysium 3 that I may not have touched on in the audio.

I mention the difference between the combat in this game and in Dominion 3. Much like the change from Stack of Doom to One Unit Per Hex in the Civilization series changes major gameplay features, this did much the same. With no movement in combat at all or even the ability to set front, mid, and back rows, many units features are made useless.

For example, you cannot take advantage of movement based qualities (Fast, Giant Sized, Floating, Flying) unless you have an entire force of that feature. Unfortunately, the only time I made this happen was in the Pale One playthrough. If you do not make a full team with these or similar features, the benefit is practically negated and you will only go as fast the fastest unit.

Same thing for things like Stealth and Invisibility. The only time I saw an entire unit be unseen was with independent units like Bandits, venus traps, or special guards for things like Old castles. Only factions that can do something like this are goblins with forest stealth and druids but that is only if you have an entire unit of it. So stealth units are just not viable in most cases (besides maybe baiting *shrugs*).

I think Dominion has a wider range of units so things like this is possible. In this game, alot of the buffs and magic items are useless because the rest of your unit is unaffected. You find a cloak of invisibility? Wonderful, too bad its useless in combat and the rest of your unit gives away your position.

My other gripe involved the maps. They were just on big land mass. Couldn't they have done something a bit more? Like islands connected by then strips of land or bridges? I don't know. With the issue with movement, I guess pangaea maps are really all it can support due to the other limitations.

Anywho, hope you enjoyed the videos!
