TROLL SMASH! TROLL SMASH! TROLL CHARMED! TROLL PARALYZED! TROLL DEAD!

Ok, so this is perhaps my sloppiest run of Conquest of Elysium ever and for that I apologize. Being the first faction with a "Tough" champion, I had to see what he had to offer.

The Troll King starts with several disadvantages. For one, you only start with the King and no other leaders. The only other units you start with are fifteen goblins which are rather weak and used for nothing much beyond fodder. The Troll King himself is incredibly powerful but extremely vulnerable to magic as my many failures revealed. Recruiting is rather random as even your normal recruitment options come and go often. You are generally stuck with goblins and ogres until you start getting a large amount of iron. Even then, I rarely saw anything that could be considered a range attacker and this faction relies heavily on Iron if you wish to get any of the powerful Trolls, Giants, or Ettins available.

This was a faction I really had no experience with. The lack of any real range attacks definitely hindered things further. But I certainly took these lessons to heart as I played the Pale One.

A random event will provide you with the King's Mum who is an Oracle. She is rather strong as well but unfortunately, there were not any other oracles that I saw available. Without the Oracle, you cannot harvest fungi. The Oracle uses the fungi to make Troll Forests which will randomly spawn dumb units much like the Revelers did with the Ancient Forest. She can also summon shadow trees which are stationary defenders. But her end game ability is to summon a Dragon, yes a Dragon.

Overall though, I was not too impressed. The heroes were definitely strong with the constant regeneration but it took me awhile to figure out a way to use them. My only suggestion is try to stock up on big units to take advantage of the Giant Sized mobility. I found the Pale Ones far more reliable in the end unfortunately (also far more amusing to play).
