Conquest of Elysium 3 (Pale One) Part 1
The proper way to play big smashy characters.
So we have encountered the Pale Ones as both a faction but mostly it was as independents guarding mines and such. Pale Ones are a rather durable race, sporting decent hp and some decent attack power to back it up. Pale Ones also start with a powerful champion much like the Troll King, King of the Deep. But they do get a normal champion as well so at least you have someone to hold the fort or to explore besides your big guy.
The King is not as powerful as the Troll King. He lacks regeneration so injuries can add up. But his main weakness is that he has the same weakness as the other Pale Ones. Pale Ones have the debuff One Eye which makes them miss one out of three times. If they lose an eye, their hit chance goes down the drain. So the King is not someone who can reliably tear though entire units by himself.
Recruitment wise, Pale Ones have only three different Pale Ones they can recruit and their differences are very little much like the Senator's Legionaires. But, Pale Ones do get many mercenaries in the form of stronger Ancient Pale Ones which have much more health and are can do more damage (some even do magic damage) along with powerful Oracles and Rock Hurlers which are both range and siege. Pale Ones do get an Oracle for free for an event and the Oracles are the reason why Pale Ones are able to gather gems.
The main benefit for these mercenaries is that they all are Giant Sized meaning they can roam through rough terrain with little issue. All of them sport at least sixty hp and that includes the Oracles. The Oracles either know third level earth magic or they know second level earth magic and first level of another element. This means that most Oracles can cast two spells a round. All Oracles have the same special abilities depending on the gems they use. They can scry, summon fire elementals, earth elementals, or water elementals.
So the strategy here is to not send my King to his death but to support him with nothing but giant units. Oracles, Hurlers, and Ancients. Ancients will hold the front lines while Hurlers start battles off with siege attacks then follow with regular range attacks. Oracles will provide mass buffs, summons, and aoe stun nukes from the back lines. Any units that are not giant sized will be passed to secondary commanders. Watch and see how this insanity unfolds.
