Remember my first playthrough of this game's demo? If not, you can find it here:
   • Constance Demo - Full Playthrough

The Constance Demo was eventually updated to "Demo 2", which offers several improvements from "Demo 1", such as an updated pause menu and effects, maps, and changed enemies as well as updated elements, such as more visible breakable objects that often contain health feathers.

Just like Demo 1, Demo 2 starts out in a dank dark cave, but then it changes things up by leading Constance into a different area from Demo 1: The Foundry.

From one NPC named Robert, you learn that you can take a limited number of Snapshots. You can use these to keep a memory of a certain spot on the map, namely if you want a better sight of keeping track of where you are and/or where you've been.
----------

The main task of Demo 2 is having Constance help another NPC named Earl repair an elevator by bringing paint back into it through its three pipes. For this demo, though, you're only going to find power for the square pipe.
----------

Once again, Constance can attack with her paintbrush, and dash forward, kinda like Madeline can do in Celeste, while also changing into paint to dodge enemies, reminiscent of a Splatoon Inkling (or Octoling)

You'll soon pick up her Paint Stab again, which will allow her to temporarily purify black corrupted spaces and enemies alike. However, using the Dive Dash or Paint Stab too much will cause Constance, herself, to become corrupted, and any further usages during that stage will self-hurt her.

Demo 1 only allowed you to organize your Inspirations for new skills at Meditation Points, but here, you can do so at any time.

The Meditation Points themselves now completely heal Constance without the need of a specific Inspiration to do that.

If you die, you can either return to a Meditation Point as usual, or Persevere through the area you just died in. However, rather than using purple shards, you'll instead only get to have 60% of your health at maximum, and this cap can only be removed by reaching a Meditation Point, anyway.

Collecting Color Pieces will extend the Paint Meter, while collecting Heart Pieces extend the Health Meter. The last Color Piece was hidden, while the last Heart Piece will be found at the end of a rather difficult obstacle course of platforming and Paint Stabbing.
----------

You will find a boss here known as SQUASH-E, the Recycler of Realms. This evil cube's weakness is its huge white eye. So you gotta hit that while it moves around trying to crush you, but you also need to watch it for when it Corrupts itself.

Beating it will give you some kind of rainbow shard, and then the path ahead will lead to the pipe you need to fill with paint to finally give the elevator some power back.

Oh… and the boss itself seems to be a body horrifically compacted into a cube. I’m seeing more of the Hollow Knight influence, here…
----------

Again, you only have to restore one pipe. Talking to Earl again after this will end the demo, framing it as Constance wanting to take a break after her little journey of just getting one pipe filled.
----------

Honestly, I would've covered this demo a bit sooner, but I ran into some technical difficulties with it regarding its new effects whenever Constance was Corrupted and/or on critical health. This playthrough was based on an updated version of the demo that thankfully patched those issues out.

It was strange... It didn't just happen to everyone. I was just one the unlucky ones for my PC.
----------

This game is still a long ways out from its release (Late 2025), and like what Celeste did, the game will also be a conversation about mental health.

Its title screen here seems to allude to that with its lonely and depressed Constance in her room with the lights out and her gloomier hair. Poor girl...

My support for indie/doujin games shall definitely continue as I have already done so for many years.

If you're interested in this game, you can immediately support its developer BTF Games by adding it to your Steam Wishlist. Console ports (primarily on the Switch, so far) have also been gestured to be planned.
