Hello everyone and welcome to GamerU. In this video, we’re taking a look at a few of the basic combat mechanics of CounterSpy. Now, CounterSpy may look like a typical 2D side-scroller, but there is much more to it. Peeking over cover will alter the perspective and transform the game into more of a third-person shooter. This completely changes the gunplay and helps to keep things interesting.
Shooting in CounterSpy is performed by aiming with either the L1 or L2 button and firing is done with the R1 or R2 button. While in 2D mode, you can only aim up or down, but if you’re firing from cover, it’s a different story. You can move the Right Stick to line up your shots using the circle reticle. Once you line up the shot, take aim and your crosshairs should be very close to where you want to shoot.
Melee attacks are a great way to conserve ammo in CounterSpy, and considering that you need to purchase and refill your ammo after every mission, using melee kills whenever possible is a good idea. To perform a melee attack, simply press the SQUARE button when next to an enemy. Now, you can either sneak up on an enemy and do a stealth melee kill, or run at them straight on. I would recommend to sneak whenever possible as it minimizes your risk of taking any damage.
In addition to shooting enemies, you’ll also be shooting cameras. Lots of cameras. If one of these spots you, your Defcon Level will rise and continue to rise as long as you are in the cameras line of sight. It’s always worth it to stop and take out any camera that you can find. You never know when you’ll be backtracking to get away from an enemy, only to run into a camera that you failed to take out earlier in the level.
Ok, so that covers some of the basic combat mechanics in the game. Thanks for watching and keep it tuned to GamerU for more tips on CounterSpy.
