The player controls a futuristic blue tank navigating an alien landscape filled with craters. The primary objective is to locate and rescue hostages while fending off enemy red alien tanks. The craters scattered across the map play a dual role: they serve as teleportation points that instantly relocate the player’s tank to another part of the battlefield, and when entered with hostages already on board, they multiply the hostage rescue bonus. Some craters are marked with green flags, indicating shield recharge points.

The tank is equipped with both offensive and defensive capabilities. Standard fire is used to destroy enemies at range, but the more distinctive mechanic is the shield system. By pressing down on the rotary controller, the player can activate a temporary shield that grants invulnerability and allows enemies to be destroyed on contact. The shield meter gradually depletes as it is used, and once empty, the player must rely again on conventional weaponry.

Enemy tanks constantly pursue the player, creating a sense of urgency that forces careful management of both offense and defense. If the player’s tank is destroyed while transporting hostages, the game indicates how many were lost, which in turn reduces the stage’s rescue bonus. However, if the final hostage aboard is lost, the game automatically progresses as though the rescue was successful, ensuring stage continuity.
