Welp, time for another game show review! This is a rare show where there are no civilian contestants-- it's entirely a panel of celebrities and their significant others-- but the ones who win actual money are studio audience members! This interesting classic from Goodson-Todman has host Bert Convy asking a question to the 3 celebrity men and their female spouses, who are on monitors at their husbands' podiums and have big ol' headphones on. Then the women get white noise or music, and a wall covered over them, to prevent them from hearing their husbands' answers. Then the women come back and try to match the husbands' answers. These questions were usually kind of personal and brought us into their domestic lives a little bit! One spouse may offer a one or two word clue to what the answer should be, and the value of a correct match would be greater if it was a one word clue than a two word clue. After a certain number of questions were asked the spouses swapped positions and the men got to sport the headphones. Whichever couple led at the end of the show was the winner and got a bonus of $1,000 added to their total. This was split between the members of their section of the studio audience, the total audience was split into 3 sections, colored blue, yellow (Bert would nickname them "the banana section"), and red. Each "rooting section" member whose couple won for them got probably around $10. Which would probably buy you a decent lunch at least back then (certainly not right now with the inflation going up)! A wonderful cast of celebrities graced this show: movie stars, tv stars, game show hosts, etc., and it was fun to see them having fun with their spouses and telling about the funny things they do in their off-camera time. Bert was a great host and this, Super Password and Win, Lose Or Draw were his best shows. Bert was one of those "Hollywood Handsome" types, and sometimes gave a very luck woman in the audience a smooch as he made his entrance. Hope you enjoyed this look at Tattletales, and enjoy the fact that GSN and BUZZR have plenty of episodes! See you soon with another video-- perhaps another couple game shows are on the way...? Or something else? Ya never know with ol' Crazyclimber80!
