0For the second scene for this concept series, I wanted to explore these two characters further. Both performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Christian Bale live on in legend and boast the acting acumen of these two actors and the characters they brought to life. Since it became clear to me that this meeting of the minds is something that a lot of people wish to see, it was the only next natural choice to explore. I wanted to craft a scenario that spoke to their strengths as well as weaknesses as men in power.
When I was writing the script for this video, I was certain from the outset that I wanted this video to be distinct from the previous one in the fact that it doesn’t start on a bitter note between the two but rather elevates the inherent tension between two of the most powerful men in their respective narrative universes. I thoroughly enjoyed finding my voice for each character, drawing on certain vocal characteristics that I observed in each of the portrayals while also interweaving tonalities that matched the characters' objectives in the script.
I wanted to elevate the tension considerably in the second half of the video and possibly set up a future fight sequence between the two, leaving room for a sequel to this part as well as a chance to revisit the characters' voices when they are suited up. I found myself inherently questioning the choices I made and since I wrote the script myself, it allowed me to look at the performance from several perspectives. This video was an absolute joy to make, pushing me to my limits and opening up brand new creative avenues throughout the process.
