In this video I play through the entire game on the original Nintendo entertainment system hardware in one sitting without dying. This was one of the first RPGs I was exposed to as a child being able to play it at my friend’s house. I remember us having to beg his mom to call the Nintendo hotline to get help finding the power bracelet in the oasis cave. I think we were able to scrounge up enough change for the five-dollar call from around his room.

During the play through I uncovered most of the treasures in the various
dungeons with some exceptions that I will list here. These were omitted because of my packed inventory and cannibalizing items did not seem worth it.

Medical Herb – This is located on the second floor of Sabera’s Castle where the path becomes narrow and invisible enemies roam. About halfway through the winding linear path you will see a fork to the right. Follow this path across a chasm with a moving elevator to the herb at the dead end. You will see this path at 1:51:04 in the video.

Medical Herb – On Mount Hydra enter the cave to the east of the bridge leading to Styx. Go forward taking the northwest stairway twice to arrive at dead end with the herb. In the video you would find the second northwest staircase by going west at 2:52:20.

Antidote – In the brown spiked area found after defeating Sabera in Draygonia Castle, climb the stairs in the southeastern corner of the large area. In this upper tan area head up, crossing two movable bridges, and then hang a left down a side path. In the video at 2:30:32 you would need to continue north to find the moving bridges.

Warp Boots – In the upper spiked area that you arrive at after defeating Mado in Draygonia Castle. It is directly south of the room where you battle with Karmine past the spiked area at the dead end. In the video you would continue to go south at 2:41:26.

Fruit of Power x2 – Oasis Cave – One is located just north of the entrance
across the water you will need flight to get it. The other is located by going
down the stairs to the east of the entrance and then going down along the
water. It will be on the opposite shoreline near the bottom corner of the
area.

Opal statue – This is located in the back entrance of the Great Pyramid. Once you climb the stairs after the first long spiked area, hang a right and it will be at the dead end of the path. In the video you would head right at 3:01:16.

I also want to mention that I avoided all glitches to play the game as intended except for what I call the Crystalis bracelet at the end. This glitch was done for fun and really doesn’t benefit you in any way. Basically, if you make sure to charge up the Crystalis sword before leaving the room where you optioned it and keep it charged the sword will have the second ball and third bracelet charge options on your force gauge. The trick here is to keep it charged as you travel from room to room and avoid going into your inventory to keep it. Both charge levels deal the same damage and have the same attack, but I thought it was neat to fool the game in this manner.

I did choose to start utilizing Leaf’s cheap Inn rate once I had the teleport spell. They also have the cheapest alarm flute in the game. I also decided to make a side trip to get the mirror shield from amazons when I got the ball of water. This was mainly done for insurance against petrification. Most of my strategy can be seen in the video so I won’t go into detail. I will instead list the time stamps to the major game chapters of the game below.
