Mega Man Legends - Final Dungeon and Easy Mode Ending
In this video I finish the Main Gate final dungeon and boss battles on easy mode which is the last unlockable mode in the game. This was a breath of fresh air after having completed the game on Hard mode.
I work my way underground from the Main Gate to encounter Mega Man Juno. After a couple cut scenes play out I continue to make my way through the remainder of the underground dungeon to the boss.
After a few more cut scenes the first phase of the battle with Mega Man Juno begins. I use my normal arm cannon to whittle down her health in the first form to conserve my Active Blaster Special ammo for the second phase. With a little practice you can easily learn her moves, dodge out of the way, and then counterattack during the predictable openings. Stay along the perimeter of the room and keep moving at all times. The boss will launch an attack and then disappear to teleport to another location.
Juno will telegraph most of her attacks verbally. You will know what is coming from audio cues even if you cannot see her. The fight begins with her attempting to jump in the air and land directly on you. If you are quick, you can land a few shots before having to jump out of the way. Her stomp attacks will be the only move that you will not hear coming. You will see her hovering high in the air before she will try to land on you. The best way to avoid this is to jump out of the way of direct contact and far enough away to avoid the explosions caused when she hits the ground. Pick a direction and circle the room via jumping, listening for the intermittent explosions to cease when she is done stomping.
When Juno says “Ready” she will send each arm toward you along a straight path. Immediately turn toward her from a good distance and lock onto her. If you are quick, you can get off a volley of shots as her first arm departs toward you. Next sidestep to get out of the way and fire a couple more rounds, anticipating the second arm on its way. Once you sidestep the second arm hit her a couple more times as she remains hovering in the air before ramming you. When she comes at you either jump over her or side jump to dodge.
Another move to watch out for is when Juno appears on the ground and says something to the effect of “Power Pole”. The second word is kind of muffled, but you will know it is preceded by the word power. She will fire two long sustained blasts from her arms that circle around the room. Wait until she fires and then jump into the air to clear the blasts as they pass underneath you.
If you hear “Defend yourself” she is about to fly toward you homing in on your location. Evade by jumping over her as she flies low or leap to the side. Once again if she is at a distance, you can land a couple shots as she closes in and then jump out of the way.
A final attack that I normally see when her health is around 50% depleted starts in the middle of the room with several blue explosions. The explosions will persist for a few seconds, allowing you some time to reposition. Use this time to get at the perimeter of the room and face directly at the explosions. After a while Juno’s body, minus her arms, will appear in the center. Jump when you see Juno’s arm appear over her form. The arms will quickly start descending to the floor and Mega man’s floaty jump will keep him in the air long enough to clear the shockwave. Juno will remain in place for a few seconds allowing you to get a blaster lock and then land some hits.
Continue the fight getting in counter attacks whenever possible and she will go down in no time.
Phase two is where I bring out the special weapons and other defensive items. While there are ways to avoid the attacks, I choose to stand my ground because she is so aggressive and always on your tail in this form. Once the fight starts, I use the defense shield for temporary invulnerability and fire away with my strongest secondary weapon. For this fight I settled on the upgraded active blaster because of its quick firing rate and homing ability.
The first hit you take will send you flying backward to the wall. She will try to smack you around some more, but the wall at your rear will prevent her from tossing you around like a rag doll too much. Once you take a hit Juno will back away giving you valuable time to pepper her with return fire while she gets into position for another attack. Use the hyper cartridge to recharge your secondary weapon when it runs out and continue the barrage to take down her hit points. On normal mode this was enough special weapon energy to fully put her away with the active buster. If not, there shouldn’t be anything that your normal buster couldn’t finish.
A few cut scenes resolve the situation after you battle and then you are placed back in the forest with your ship. You must now go say goodbye to the town people and then speak with Roll by your ship in order to continue with the ending.
