Just an FYI... a long time ago on L4Dmaps... there was a guy who would take old maps, fix problems like invisible props... then repost them with permission from the author... I can't tell you how many he did, but Freezer Burn was one of them... and it is the only one I have kept... so if there are differences between the version I am playing and the whatever the version on L4Dmaps might contain... now you know...
Pros
+ Great concept
+ The 5th chapter's overall design
Cons
- Some extremely annoying mechanics
- Fair poorly designed levels to some extent
- The Tank skin (used to make the tank invisible... don't know if it still does)
- Use to have horrific saferoom music (I manually took that out)
- Rather boring until you reach the climax, then it gets boring again
- Chapter 6 glitch... ( spawn outside elevator)
Final Verdict
50/100
Correct me if I am wrong... but I believe this won the competition for arctic themed maps way back when... back then it was understandable... but this campaign really hasn't aged well... To my understanding, it is still full of glitches...
This is what I call a "Gilded Map"... it looks great from the outside... but look deeper into it and you find garbage... this is a fatal flaw with many maps... if a map can't stand without its special gimmick (in this case the ice and fire) then the map still isn't that great... like the Left 4 Mario map... take away that Mario exterior and you are left with a terrible map... but this is just how I see it...
All opinions aside... it is great the first time around... but that's just it... it has no replay value... which has to be the greatest flaw with the campaign...
