The reputation of this game has been pulled through the mud, and rightfully so. It's meme worthy bad. Is it AS bad as you might be led to believe? No, actually. It does play like a basic Atari 2600 game if put into a 3D world. It's not complex and it doesn't look graphically impressive, and you would think that I could follow this up with "but for 1993 it is". I won't, because even 1993 was around the time of Virtua Racing and Star Fox. For a system that was being advertised as a massive leap in power, this was a long tech demo. It is smoother than you'd expect and it's not flying is impossible...it's definitely playable and it isn't very frustrating if you take it slow. It's just boring and unnecessary.

If I were to point out the one flaw in this game that sticks out more than anything, it's that this is the exact kind of game you'd want as a flagship. It's 1993, you need something that screams "the future", you want to show that your system does 3D and has a lot of potential....Atari should have thrown everything they had at this game more than any other. They should have asked for specific set pieces and make this a narrative tech demo. Instead, it's just this lazy set of collect-a-thons. Nothing is exciting, and Atari needed to make sure it was.
