Cyberpunk 2077 operation test on Linux/Wine/vkd3d-proton
A quick test of the newly released (today, 12/10/2022) Cyberpunk 2077 action/adventure game running on Linux / Wine. It looks like there is a major framerate issue with the game right now, at least on Nvidia, so it most likely is unplayable on this platform until that is resolved.
To get the game to run the following is needed :
Build and install vkd3d-proton from git :
https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton
You want to build the latest master since recent changes have been made to support the game in vkd3d-proton. This will create a d3d12 DLL which is installed into the wine prefix as a native DLL override.
I ran the test with wine-5.22 staging. vkd3d-proton didn't install unless I first built a wine using the wine version of vkd3d, this is found here :
https://source.winehq.org/git/vkd3d.git
Once vkd3d-proton is installed, you can re-install a wine not built against the wine vkd3d if desired.
I also installed the dxvk dxgi from latest 1.73 release.
Set the windows version to 10 using winetricks before launching. The game should launch and the menus should work. I am seeing very low FPS on all the graphics settings (low/med/high), on low it runs around 30fps with an i6700k/gtx1070. Once this gets resolved I'll do some further test runs of the game. I tested with the latest NVIDIA vulkan beta driver 455.46.02. The game crashes and locks the whole computer if I use my normal long-term 440.82 driver version.
