I started having fun for the first time in the game on the first boss segment/arena, prior to this it was pretty much a death grind with very weak player resources/offense combined with very strong and numerous enemies and a large number of trolls such as exploding zombies & barrels (not a player friendly combo). Each one of these trolls costs at minimum one death to learn and there are a ton of them in the game. I like hard games but I don't like certain kinds of hard and this falls into that category along with Dishonored 2 Hard, though this is much much worse than Dishonored 2 Hard in terms of crippling the player against ridiculously strong enemies. Contrasted with top tier games which do hard correctly such as Halo 1/2 Legendary, Far Cry 1 realistic, DOOM 2016/Eternal nightmare, this game is a complete miss/disaster because the player is overly handicapped while in all the games which are hard done right the player has sufficient resource and offense to take on the challenge with sufficient skill. The game is supposed to be much more approachable on normal difficulty but I don't want to play it twice and I don't want to play an overly easy game so I suffered through the early death march grind and hopefully will start to have more fun as the character abilities get stronger and I learn game mechanics better. I do like the game in spite of the hard level difficulty , its a great horror survival zombie genre addition with absolutely amazing and detailed map design, interesting plot/writing, excellent voice acting/music and atmosphere with tons of varied side quests and challenges.
