Getting summoned as a Spear of the Church at low levels is notably rare and thanks to the matchmaking range of covenants you never know what you're getting. Commonly it's just a solo host but you're never sure if it's someone who is skilled at challenge runs or if it's someone who is at a more realistic SL for the area.

For reference I was SL 35 with +4 weapons which can match with SL 32-69 using +3 to +6 weapons through covenant matchmaking, this host was SL 50. Any low level Spear summon is immensely better to fight than the Halflight npc though, imo, because there is NO downscaling on that npc phantom at all and you can tell that npc was made with SL 125 in mind. Which is why it's also fairly common to see those who are challenging Spear of the Church at low levels frequently using weapons intended to delete large chunks of health.
