Darkeater Midir is a very aggressive boss so be ready to dodge at all times. In general he has quick attacks as well as delayed attacks design to catch you between dodges. Memorize his attacks and you should be good to defeat him no problem.

Darkeater Midir takes the most damage when hit on the head. The rest of his body will only yield half of his head damage. Focusing on his head will get you a quicker kill. Some notes that may be helpful is when Midir stands up and breaths fire. If you have lots of time to get behind him (to the tip of the tail where you can attack it) before the fire reaches you then you may do so. If you do not your safest bet is to stay in front of him. When he fly's up and performs a fire breathing attack run to Midi's right (typically to your left). Many attacks such as the charge attack from afar and the "roaring" charged biting attack, will need to dodged when the attack is about to connect with you instead of dodging when Midir actually does the attack. Depending on your distance from midir will determine when to dodge or even if you need to dodge. Giving you and Midir a medium distance apart works very well. This method gives you the time to see what attack is coming and giving you the time to react to it. The combo attacks that he performs at the beginning of the fight and many other times during the fight, may be dodge properly to the sides 1:21.

In second phase Midir will charge and blow up. This dark magic aoe attack, even tho the attack seems like it will hit you from far it really does not. You can be in front of him a short distance and not get hit 3:27. Another attack 3:57 may be properly dealt with by remaining at a good distance again, locking on your target and running to the side to avoid the projectiles and prepared for Midir's upcoming attack. There is also a laser attack in this phase (not shown in this video). A good way to deal with it is to dodge through the lasers and get under Midir for some free damage.
You may also try and bait his standing fire attack where you can stay behind him and hit his tail. Rinse and repeat. The way you approach this boss is up to you and what your comfortable with.
