DARK SOULS III DLC Sister Friede, Father Ariandel, Blackflame Friede, NG++ SL1 Blind (Flawless)
2The first phase of this boss fight is quite easy compared to the next two phases, so be mentally prepared to start over and over again. Once you die you have to restart from the first phase which is a pain.
First Phase: In this phase learn how to find Friede when she disappears. This tends to be hard until you find out where she is. So where is she? Examine the dust trails that she leaves behind when she disappears. Does the dust go straight up? If so she will teleport behind you. Does the dust go left or right? Then just follow the trail. Once you get close to her she will once again become visible for you to attack. Performing a back stab at this point is a good idea. Friede often has follow up attacks that catch you off guard so be ready to dodge away. She is very easily staggered which makes this fight much more bearable, but be wary as she can dodge away or attack swiftly through your attacks when she recovers her footing. Most of her attacks have good tracking, so be wary of where she is at all times. This phase was more easily done locked on. Her frost attack in this phase is not much of concern and just warming you up for the next couple of phases.
Phase Two: This phase Friede and Father Ariandel share the same health bar. Your goal is to try and keep both of them in view and to be prepared for both of them to attack. If you keep your distance from Friede she will only use the frost attack which is your best bet for a simple fight. If you get to close she will perform a couple of attacks from the first phase that you will be familiar with. Ariandel's bowl slamming attacks have a very narrow hitbox and are easily dodged/evaded through. He uses a 3 combo hit when he's really low to the ground and a 4 combo hit combo when he stands up. The 4th slam is off beat and requires you to delay a little before dodging. If you stay to long around Ariandel he will pour the bowl on his head which will require you to back off. Tho staying behind him is usually safe. He also has an explosion attack where he will slam his bowl on the ground several times in the same area. Stay back! He will use his breath to blow fire across the room. Get behind him where it is safe and you can get a few attacks in. If you can't get behind him. run to the sides or away if you are far enough. The AOE is where the floor glows red. Keep an eye on both of them always. When the health bar drops down to 2/3rd Friede will try and perform a healing miracle. While this is happening they will both glow yellow/gold in color. The best thing to do is perform a back stab on Friede but only if Ariandel is occupied with a combo of some sort. If you do not have time for a back stab quickly hit her once and get away so she stops healing. Often if Ariandel starts coming after you while your back stabbing Friede, you will come out of the back stab animation and take direct damage from Ariendel. This phase is best going into unlocked most of the time.
Phase Three: This phase called "Blackflame Friede" has mostly all new attacks. The attacks that do look familiar will have additional attacks tacked on, not to mention her speed has increased. Like she needed that right? She has many AOE attacks that will cause frost as well as dark attacks. Keep your distance so as to see what attack she will do. She may do a sprinting attack, in which frost will follow her. Dodge towards her to avoid being hit. When she lunges into the air, focus on getting behind her. If unable to do so, quickly dodge to the sides. You can dodge to the sides to avoid her frost trails and her dark magic ground attacks. Her AOE and sprint attacks leave her open to a back stab. This is your chance to get critical attacks in. This phase worked best with lock on and off. On when she was on the ground, off when she was does her spin dark attack where she jumps in the air and does a slam. If you can get behind her then unlock. If you can't get behind her, keep it locked and dodge to the side.
