Taking a look at Darkest Dungeon 2 (Main Campaign mode) with the currently running Free Weekend on Steam. I think the combat fundamentally similar to the first game. But here, they have tacked on some more stuff; Stagecoach traveling with enlarged inventory and can auto-heal your party, character individual story puzzle sections, character skill sets are different (in function and less synergy), stress is counted differently, maybe no blacksmith? There's a lot of items and upgrades to unlock at very expensive resource costs, facilitating a massive amount of grinding and arguably more replayability. This game mode in this sequel game is extremely tilted towards randomness and a constantly forced handicapping, instead of rewarding player ability and skill. Character animation is improved and the user interface is more streamlined. Information displayed and given to the player is improved, but there is still confusion and somethings are not readily available or missing completely. Overall I prefer the main campaign mode in the first game instead, although here the graphic engine internally scales beyond 1080p.
