It's a souls like. The combat doesn't have an arcadey hack n slash feel, more like a simulation. When using gamepad I feel the control system is unique and once getting use to it, works quite well. My only gripe was probably having parry tied to attack, if your parry fails it leaves you open. Usually in other games I think parry is tied to block, so if your parry would fail then you don't get to counter-attack, but at least you would still have a chance to block. Blocking is timed only anyway.
