Originally called Vampire Savior, Darkstalkers 3 was sadly the final game in the series. Featuring the largest roster, a crazy new villain and some awesome additions. Characters making their debut, we got B.B. Hood, a bounty hunter dressed like little red riding hood. Lilith, a fragmented piece of Morrigan's soul who seeks to reunite. Q-Bee, a humanoid Bee part of a colony who consumes souls and finally Jedah, an S-Class Shinigami with super dangerous blood manipulating powers. The combat remains very fast paced, with matches now taking place over a single round with two life bars. Whenever you get hit, you'll see a portion of your life-bar in white that will slowly refill as long as you don't take anymore damage. We also have the Dark Force System, which gives every character a unique install using super meter. Every character has new moves, all beautifully animated of course with amazing new stages that I still had burned in my memory since first seeing them in the arcades. Darkstalkers really sets itself apart from other fighting games in every direction. The endings and world that Capcom built in this series will forever be known to be one of their artistic peaks for 2D fighters. It goes without saying that I would love to see Darkstalkers return someday like everyone else, but would it even be possible to re-create it with modern graphics? it would definitely be a sight to behold.
