Arguably one of the most original games to have come out during the 2000s, Darwinia stormed onto the PC scene 5 years ago and remains an incredibly immersive and addictive game to this day. Indie developer Introversion's retro-styled title combines shoot'em up, puzzle and realtime strategy elements into a wholly unique, strikingly beautiful and strangely transcendent experience which no self-respecting gamer can afford to miss out on.

Back when the game was originally released the frame rate was strangely sluggish on low- and mid-range systems but that shouldn't be a problem on modern computers. Also, an Xbox 360 version (which includes both Darwinia and the subsequent multiplayer version Multiwinia) is currently being developed.
