Hello there ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to Pathfinder Plays and in the last episode we delved deep into Dead Matter’s Character Creation, but in this episode, we are going to continue and talk about the inventory system. Let’s dig in.
So, after the character creation is complete, Klean went into the Weapons Range and went to a mannequin and grabbed some armor from it. Now I want to know if that was just for the range, jut for this stream, or if we can display our different outfits and gear on mannequin’s we find in stores throughout the world.
Soon after, the inventory was opened up and the familiar and iconic grid system is shown, but better than that, one of the developers said during this time that “this build is 3 to 4 builds old” and that they “currently have a much better one”. So, if you guys see issues, or the character clipping through gear and clothes, hopefully it’s already fixed. Why do they not show a more updated build? One that is maybe right behind the most recent of builds? I have no clue, so stop asking me.
Taking a look at the inventory system we see lots of information, to include all the slots for your cloths which include a scarf and two glove slots on the left of the screen and your inventory system given to you by your cloths, tactical rig, or backpack on the right. Different items will obviously give you different storage space, and as far as I know, the more those items get damaged, the less items you can carry because the individual grid blocks will get damaged. You can repair those items though, I’m sure. As you can see below the Equipment slots, you have the tool belt system which holds items persistently. Meaning that even when you die, if you have the designated items in these slots, you will at least spawn with those. The items you can carry on your tool belt are a radio, binoculars, a map, compass, a Smart Watch or GPS, a lighter, key ring for your keys, and finally a wallet to store your cash which can be used for trading in the safe zones. Next to the tool belt system and located at the bottom center of the screen is the condition of your character. We have blood, hydration, satiation, endurance or stamina, and temperature. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen you see different tabs which you can click on, such as Medical, Quests, Stats, and obviously your gear. I love this system because it is very minimalist, allows you to easily navigate and find what you need, and gives you a clear look at your character.
