Hello there ladies and gentlemen and today I want to talk about which survival game is better, the revitalized classic, DayZ? Or the game with arguably the most potential in the genre, SCUM?
As we all know, some larger streamers are beginning to play DayZ again. These include Summit1G and even Shroud. But what made these gamers, go play DayZ, and not SCUM, or any other survival game out there right now? Well, for one, DayZ came out when a lot of them were up and coming in their careers or had just started it, they know it and are comfortable in it. DayZ also has a huge nostalgia effect for the players, such as Shroud and Summit, who grew up with it. These streamers, as well as other gamers are making a comeback, and this is what made me think: which one is better? To answer this question, I’ll be looking at just a few aspects that make a survival game, worth the time.
Dayz does many things excellently. For one, the PvP. Loot is rather hard to come by in Dayz, at least it can be depending on the server you are on, the mods that are installed, and the number of players in the server. But overall, you’ll need to be satisfied having a shotgun and a few slugs, or a rage inducing, jam prone rusty pistol that you find on the East Coast of the map. The fact that you need to search so hard for loot, at least until you get to the military areas in the middle and West portion of the map, means that you get hyper-protective of it. If somebody approaches you in a city, your senses are raised immediately. You are thinking about if they are in a group, is this a trap, are they just friendly, do they have a weapon in hidden, and more. You might be so scared of losing your stuff that you would even kill other players on sight.
