Dead Space developers offer first look at much anticipated reboot
Dead Space developers have offered a first look at the much-anticipated reboot.
Members of Motive’s creative team behind the remake, held a twitch livestream detailing how various aspects of the game will differ, or remain the same, from the original.
Until now, the scope and intentions for the reboot have been somewhat hidden, with it being unclear if it’s a reimagining of the iconic sci-fi horror classic, or simply a remaster
Firstly, voice actor Gunner Wright will be returning as the protagonist Isaac Clarke. Motive have set out some rules for Isaac’s dialogue. Isaac will primarily only speak when spoken to, or in situations where it would be unusual for him to stay silent. This marks a departure from the original game, as Isaac did not speak until the 2nd and 3rd games, meaning the developers have chosen to reincorporate this aspect in the remake.
Motive wanted to improve the limb severing and dismemberment technology in the original game, making it more accurate and precise for the remake, allowing players to gauge how effective their weapons are as they tear through necromorphs.
One key criticism levied at Dead Space 3, the most recent game in the franchise, was it’s use of microtransactions. Developers Motive have promised they will be absent in the remake.
Whilst no release date has been announced, Dead Space is expected to release in late 2022.
