Deadly Moves Game Sample - Genesis/MD
Original Air Date: January 24th, 2010
Known as Power Athlete in Japan, Power Moves in the U.S. for SNES, and "Deadly Moves" in the U.S. for Genesis. It's not a terrible game and has a neat idea or two (it's way better than "Street Smart" anyway), but its relatively dumb A.I., wonky hit detection and mostly useless "two-plane" fighting addition only make the game about average. It's also really dumb how the main character's two moves are done almost exactly the same, and you'll pull off moves you didn't even do in the first place. The visuals are what I'd call "above average" and the music is pretty good (though the sound output is lower than the average Gen/MD game).
As Joe, you'll fight characters, each who is statistically stronger than you in nearly every way, but their stats don't mean much when they can't really fight. Choose an opponent and work your way up the ranks to become the strongest fighter. As you win, you'll gain stats based on what your opponent excels at as well as what your base stats are by comparison. This means if you have a stat higher than the opponent like DEF, beating them likely won't net you any DEF points.
In this video, I fight generic opponent one (Warren/Wrestler), generic opponent two (Baraki/Blanka+Dhalsim), and generic opponent three (Reayon). Enjoy.
