Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing In Disguise | PC VERSION | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
96Deadly Premonition 1 was a cult classic and I loved it when I played it back in the day. Therefore it came as a huge surprise when it was suddenly announced that Deadly Premonition 2 would come to the Nintendo Switch back in 2020. But unfortunately the reviews were less than favorable due to technical faults with the framerate on the Switch. It apparently dips below 10 frames per second in some areas which is indeed unacceptable. But luckily we finally got a PC port after two years and with that the framerate issue is finally gone!
Though the game is definitely not as "good" as the first Deadly Premonition I still had a good time revisiting my old friend Francis York Morgan. Call him York, that's what everyone calls him. Instead of going on an adventure inspired by Twin Peaks we head to Louisiana and now go on an epic quest clearly inspired by the first season of True Detective. We switch between two different timelines as an unsolved murder case points toward Francis Zach Morgan being the suspect. And as York we get to skateboard across the little town while meeting all sorts of whacky inhabitants and getting into all kinds of shenanigans.
The thing that makes this entry less than the first one in my opinion are some sections that are really centered around fetch quests and certain time zones where the game forces you to either wait long times or just skip entire days by sleeping at the hotel. The fetch quests also are not interesting unlike something like the squirrel key quest in the first game where the police office itself is pretty interesting to explore and the characters you interact with there are hilarious. I feel like on all aspects the game is the lesser of the two, but I am still glad that we got to go on another adventure with York that has some crazy twists and turns made possible by the brilliant mind of Swery.
