Decktech: F2P Budget Elves
A great deck for someone just getting into Arena or standard. Budget elves lets you flood out the board with elves, using their variety of mana ramp options to play big threats or pump your dudes.
Skip to 8:55 to see the deck in action.
The essentials for the deck:
4x Llanowar Elves
4x Elvish Clancaller
4x Thorn Lieutenant
4x Steel Leaf Champion
3x Heart of Kiran
2x Aethersphere Harvester
3x Blossoming Defense
21+ Forests
Other budget options:
Adventurous Impulse (Helps dig for more elves)
Blanchwood Armor (Huge pump aura in monogreen lists)
Cartouche of Strength (Removal and pump. Also gives trample)
Colossal Dreadmaw (Ramp target for lategame)
Song of Freyalise (Makes all elves manadorks. Not just the mana ones. Pumps board at end)
Thrashing Brontodon (Kills artifacts and enchantments)
Reclamation Sage (An elf version of Brontodon. Kills on eotb trigger rather than as an ability)
Vine Mare (Hexproof horse. Can buff to make huge)
Rares and Mythics to consider:
Marwyn the Nurturer (A pseudo lord. She pumps herself and lets you get massive amounts of mana).
Mouth//Feed (Lets you draw a ton of cards if you have enough lords out)
Lifecrafter's Beastiary (With enough mana you can draw almost your entire deck)
Shapers' Sanctuary (Lets you replenish your hands as your elves are removed)
Growing Rites of Itlimoc (An enchantment similar to Marwyn. Gives huge mana if you can keep your board alive. Pairs well with tokens)
Metallic Mimic (Becomes another elf lord)
Carnage Tyrant (The best ramp target)
Ghalta (Another excellent ramp target. Can get her out very easily)
Cultivator of Blades (Buffs your entire board when attacking. Great elf finisher)
Gigantosaurus (5 mana for a 10/10. Easy to get to 5 mana and makes your board very scary)
Vivien Reid (Provides card advantage and removal for fliers or enchantments and artifacts that are getting out of hand)
Rishkar's Expertise (A way to replenish your hand after dumping all your elves. If you get wiped before casting it though then it becomes a 6 mana do nothing).
Pelakka Wurm (Another good ramp target. Gives you health for aggro matchups and draws a card when killed)
Sandwurm Convergence (One of the most powerful ramp targets. Gives you a 5/5 every turn and prevents fliers from hitting you. Costs 8 mana however.)
Now the big problem that elves poses compared to other budget decks is the high number of rares (12). You can cut out Thorn Lieutenants, but you absolutely want the Steel Leaf Champions. And there's not much point playing an elf deck without the only elf lord in standard.
Easy additions to make depend on which way you want to take the deck. A lower to the ground curve can add Metallic Mimics as Clancallers #5 through 8. Heroic Intervention is incredible for keeping your board alive. A 2 or even 3 of Ghalta is a great way to close out games. And cards such as Carnage Tyrant offer great ramp targets for your elves to ramp to.
