Welcome to Demon's Souls "Easy" mode. Except on the hardest mode, New Game + 5, Pure Black World Tendency, Soul Level 1.

No skills were used in the making of this series. =)

So what do I mean by "Easy Mode" here? I'm going to use every dirty trick in the book to make my way through all of Demon's Souls without ever having to "git gud", as the community likes to say. To my knowledge Demon's Souls is the only game that can be taken to quite this extreme, as all of the other games have at least one or two bosses that you really do just have to learn. But every boss in Demon's Souls can be cheesed in one way or another, and the levels can be virtually skipped, as you'll see in this series.

The only exception here is that I will not be using any glitches. This means no duping, no quit-outs, and no deliberately getting enemies stuck because of bad pathfinding (i.e. Flamelurker).

Before starting NG+5, you should make sure to have max (198, half in storage half on person) Soul Remains, Old Spice, and Full Moon Grass. At SL1 Full Moon Grass will be sufficient to take you to full health under any circumstances (even poison/plague), but it can be bought from Patches so it's not hard to come by. You should also make certain to have a full 999 arrows of all types (except Rotten) with Stockpile Thomas.

0:15 I start off by showing my file conditions. I forgot to display world/character tendency here, but I'll show it in my next video. Nothing major happens in this video, and every time I get hit OHKOs me, so it really wouldn't make much difference if I was truly in PBWT or not. As I'll show in the next video, however, all worlds are Pure Black, and my Character Tendency is Pure White.

The game could actually be made a little harder by going with Pure Black Character Tendency as well, but this is generally considered not playing on a "harder mode" per se, as much as it is just depriving yourself of a power-up, as PWCT gives +20% damage in Soul Form, and is essential for optimizing Hyper Mode damage.

1:30 We start 1-1, immediately casting Second Chance. At Soul Level 1, to accomplish this we need the Silver Coronet, Silver Catalyst, and Ring of Devout Prayer. The first two are starting gear for the Royal (the only SL1 class, so unmissable for this run), and the latter can be obtained by killing Garl Vinland's black phantom, or by murdering Saint Urbain right at the end of a run. Both are easy on normal New Game even at SL1.

Most of the early running here is pretty standard stuff, and my path isn't even optimal. The speedrunner routes would be better here, but I didn't bother to learn them, as that would have required some "git gud".

2:15 It's entirely possible to run past these two guys here without taking a hit, but it's easier when the fog door is already down. I didn't want to grab the fog door and die for the purpose of the video series, so I just use a Soul Remains to buy myself some extra leeway.

2:22 This Soul Remains is to prevent the next enemy from pelting me with a lucky molotov throw.

2:32 Starting at the base of the steps here, you want to run fast around the next two enemies to avoid any lucky blows. But you can't hug the wall too close or you'll get stuck on it and almost certainly get Molotov'd. I often still take a hit here, and it's the main reason I use Second Chance for this level.

2:37 Slowing down to walking speed for a second at the base of these stairs makes certain the Molotov that's thrown from above doesn't hit you.

2:50 I use Molotovs here so I can taunt the boulder trap down without having to use a suicide, but using your shield it's entirely possible to get through this whole section, let the boulder or enemies kill you, then make the run again.

3:15 I take a dumb hit here. I should have caught this guy on my shield and then rolled past him, but I was angling to get around him too aggressively. Oh well, that's why we have Second Chance.

3:27 I put way too much effort here into renewing Second Chance. Since I don't have the Thief Ring on, I can't stop for too long because previous enemies are still pursuing me. I do wind up getting hit again on this run, but it's after I unlock the shortcut, so it wouldn't have actually mattered had I died there. I should have just left it alone and taken the risk.

3:40 At NG+5 PBWT, the barrels here only rare kill both of these guys. Normally you would have to finish off or run past a survivor.

4:21 There's that hit... this really doesn't matter as long as you pull the lever, but if you were really trying to avoid it, you could have used more Soul Remains to keep these guys off of you long enough to get out of the gate.
