Demon's Souls SL1 NG+5 PBWT "Easy Mode" - Part 4 - 4-1: Unlocking Vendors
Welcome to Demon's Souls. I'm your host, a talentless hack.
No skills were used in the making of this series. =)
I forgot to start off with a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes again, so I have to commit suicide twice at the beginning.
2:41 The hardest part of this segment is running up the hill at the beginning of 4-1 again. The same tactics apply as in part 3.
4:55 I use backstab to kill one of the enemies here, and hyper mode arrows to kill the other, to show both approaches. But if you're struggling with one of these methods, either of them can be used to kill both enemies here.
8:20 I have no use for Saint Urbain, so I just Evacuate out to get Patches. I make the mistake of making a second run in here to get his confirmation dialog... but apparently you don't need that to bring him back to the Nexus. If you prefer to rescue Urbain, the Black Phantom here can be handled with Soul Remains and Hyper Mode backstabs.
I'd like to take a moment here and discuss some of the gear I'm using in this run, and how to easily obtain it.
First, some may have noticed I'm only using a Buckler+6. I actually have a Buckler+10 at Thomas, but I wanted to prove that this run can be completed without any rare/lizard farms. Chunks of Hardstone can be very annoying to come by, so I stuck with the Buckler+6 to show that you never really need one.
The Sticky Short Bow can be made with Spiderstone. The Pure is given by the Armor Spider boss fight, and the Shards and Chunks can both be farmed at the beginning of 2-2. This is probably the most annoying farm used in this run. However, it's also pretty unnecessary. I will be using the Lava Bow in almost all important situations, and any time I do use the Sticky Short Bow, the Lava Bow could be substituted. I mainly like the Short Bow because it sometimes keeps me under the fat-rolling threshold, but that can always be avoided by other means.
The Northern Regalia requires killing Old King Doran. This is best accomplished during normal New Game with Poison Cloud or Hyper Mode Soul Ray. All of the other materials to make the weapon are unmissable, but to power it up to full power you need Pure White Character Tendency. To achieve this, I recommend killing Black Phantom Miralda, Scirvir, and Satsuki during normal New Game, and then two more of that set during NG+. They are all pretty easy to cheese using Soul Remains and Hyper Mode backstabs.
The Dragon Longsword +5 can be made entirely from materials found in 2-2, including the Pure. Some of this requires running through the lava, which can be done easily with Water Veil, Ring of Flame Resistance, and Body Form HP. The remaining chunks can be found in Flamelurker's chambers on a suicide run, and from the two Black Phantoms guarding the Crystal lizard's nest. Shards can be purchased from the 2-2 Filthy Man vendor.
The Moon Winged Spear +4 can be made by killing the Baby's Nail BP and finding the Chunk laying in 3-2. Shards can be purchased from the Once Royal Mistress.
The Crescent Falchion can be upgraded to +4 by killing the BP guarding Urbain, and finding the other Chunk laying in 4-2. Shards can be purchased from Blige.
I'll also be using a Dark Heater Shield +5. Pure Cloudstone is dropped by the Storm King, and two Chunks can be found in his arena. By collecting these Chunks on the NG through NG+3 cycles, you'll be able to get to +5 with no extra farming. Shards are purchased from Blige.
I also have a Kris Blade +5 and Adjudicator Shield +5 which may or may not make their way into the run. This required a total of 10 Colorless Demon Souls. Assuming no Primeval Demon kills (technically they aren't a 100% drop), there are 3 reliable Colorless Demon Souls from each cycle. One can be gotten in the secret area of 1-1 at either Pure Black or Pure White (use a Soul Remains to distract Miralda if you're not killing her). Two can be gained from trading with Sparkly, one for a Talisman of God (easy to come by, also can be bought from the Filthy Woman vendor), one for the Golden Mask, which can be found where the heart falls in 3-2. If all three are gotten on each of the New Game through NG+4 cycles, that's a total of 15, which is more than enough to upgrade two unique weapons to max, and purchase the Recovery Miracle from Urbain.
I think that pretty well covers it. Anything I didn't mention is just made from purchasable materials and/or boss souls (like the Lava Bow). If I think of more I'll add them to the list here.
