Most sources will call this "The Ancient's Gates". However, the logo for this game ALWAYS has the ' after Ancients. So i'm keeping this for this title since that is the name they went with there.
This demo is unstable. Some stuff i didn't show even involves enemies going through walls. However the biggest thing is that this demo refuses to end. The sound you hear when im near the quit button? That's me trying to select it. The quit button doesn't work. You're forced to restart the PS2.
At the end, you're suppose to be met by your dragon and have a conversation with him. However, this only happens SOMETIMES. Most of the time, like you saw here, he just disappears from the demo entirely and i have to walk to my exit point.
Some loot from enemies can not only jump into the abyss, but can even go through the walls or just not spawn at all. Including healing items.
There's an area with a chained up skeleton and such in the outside area... but there was no point to it, so i didn't bother showing it.
There is magic in this game, however your weapons do good enough at this that you won't ever have the need to use it. I'm sure there'll be a good use for magic in this game... just not in the demo.
If you don't know what's coming up in the demo, it will happily kill you with cheap traps.
The big enemies WILL 1 hit kill you every time. That is why in that one moment inside the cave, i used the bow to kill the big enemy, or in the other moment used an invincibility potion. Close combat with them is near impossible.
The platforming is bad. Don't be shocked by that.
The combat is also bad. Sometimes you will hit your enemies with your weapons. Sometimes you just miss, even if the weapon touches them. And sometimes, you can kill your enemies instantly by spamming the attack button and running into them. It's a complete coin toss on what even happens in combat.
I would block more often, but the only shield you get can only take 20 hits and you will take WAY more than 20. Dodging is the best option. And speaking of dodging...
When you see me just stand there sometimes after i roll back, that is not me just standing there... that is the demo locking up the controls on me for a few seconds. Sometimes, if i press the attack button when it does that, it'll unlock it for me. But most of the time, i have to sit there and take whatever happens to me as i cannot move or defend myself at all. What a great demo, huh?
