Desert Planet in Unreal Engine 5: A UE5 Cinematic
A desert planet (it's actually Mars but don't worry about it) rendered in realtime in Unreal Engine 5 using Lumen and Nanite, along with Unreal's built-in Sky Atmosphere shading for accurate Rayleigh scattering and a little bit of janky maths.
Still unsure if a desert planet would have an atmosphere like this or be more 'Dune' like but well... Tatooine in Star Wars seems to be somewhere in the middle...Certainly something to experiment with further... I guess we can just handwave it away as sci-fi planets...
Haven't played with space and planets in UE5 before this - and it seems to work quite a bit better than UE4 - less glitching and shadowing artifacts with the meshes given the planetary scales in play. Stll trying to figure out how to do displacements for clouds etc... given the incredibly high poly scales here...
