Dragon Age Inquisition in UNREAL ENGINE 5: Emprise du Lion Pt.3 feat. Windwalker Echo
Continuing on – here’s Leontine's Ring in Emprise du Lion – also featuring Windwalker Echo taking a little walking tour of the Dragon Age universe (fortunately without having to fight any dragons). It’s interesting to be able to play with scale much more effectively when you have a human character in the 3D environment for reference.
This is for my ‘Thedas Magic Mystery World Tour’ where I’m re-creating little cinematics from the game Dragon Age: Inquisition (originally Frostbite 3) in Unreal Engine 5! Mostly because it’s a more fun way of learning UE5 and getting the hang of the new features like Lumen and Nanite.
If you’re interested in how a cinematic scene like this is built, I’ve also made an accompanying speed-build video – check it out here: https://youtu.be/tmg1qSyXRuo
Granted, I actually had a lot of trouble migrating the base Echo asset into my project – a lot of the blueprints broke and I had to manually diagnose the problems and at times, re-construct sections of her animation blueprints and materials. Which was a pain – but anyway… Hopefully the kinks get ironed out down the line. Anyone else having trouble with this asset?
Rendered on a single Nvidia 1060 Max Q - far below the system requirements for UE5 - but with deferred rendering - it's not too much of a hassle.
Full disclosure – I am not in fact a character animator – these are just the base control rig animations that shipped with the Echo asset. I just used the Take Recorder plugin to capture the base animations then bought them into the level sequence. Bit of a learning curve and I’m not sure I’m super happy with how the movements turned out – but, well – gotta start somewhere…

This is a FANMADE cinematic tech DEMO inspired by Dragon Age Inquisition - it does not use any assets from the game itself, and as such, does not - and is not supposed to - match up one-to-one to the original.
