You can design your own Sonic 1 special stage on the mobile version of Sonic 1. In order to do this, you need to:

1: Access level-select by selecting a no-save file, Tapping "S" "E" "G" "A" when the SEGA logo appears (you should hear a ring noise). Then on the title sreen press both of your thumbs against the areas roughly where the touchscreen in-game controls would appear (bottom left & right) and you will be transported to level select.

2: On the level select screen enter the debug-mode code; 01, 09, 09, 01, 00, 06 ,02 ,03 on sound-test and you should hear a ring noise (after the 03) which means you have activated debug-mode.

3: Then play "07" on the sound test, then select "special stage" and you will then start the custom special stage (not to be confused with the seventh special stage created for the mobile version - which you can access by entering "06" in the sound-test then selecting special stage) which you can now modify using debug-mode (press the top-left of the screen to activate debug-mode and you can cycle through the different options using the plus and minus signs at the top of the screen. You can save the special stage you create and test it.

Yeah, the special stage I designed is probably rubbish, but I had fun making it.
