In an interview with MCV, Carl Ledbetter, one of the team members who designed the Xbox One, had addressed complaints regarding the size of the console. He said:

“The reality is that there are very real issues around cooling when you're pushing some number of watts in the processor, therefore the thing has to have some size to it. There's always an interesting dynamic between engineering and design, and constraints around performance.”

And I’d probably buy that if the Xbox One weren’t so much bigger than the PlayStation 4, which is a very similar device in terms of actual hardware. I mean, it’s pretty damn big. The Xbox One is a bit of a burden to carry around, and when you see it next to a PlayStation 4 it just doesn’t make sense how it’s that big, and has a power brick, when the PS4’s is fully internal. And don’t even get me started on the size of the thing compared to the miniscule hard-drive space…
