It clearly shows Dante's superiority over Nero. He beat this boss without breaking a sweat. Upon getting that devil arm he gains access to the One-Inch Punch, Shoryuken, and Hyakuretsukyaku.

Dante's game mechanics are completely different to Nero's. He has access to four fighting styles: Sword Master grants him access to several swordplay techniques, Gunslinger does the same with his long ranged arms, Royal Guard grants defensive capabilities, while Trickster aids Dante when navigating areas.
