DFFOO JP - Act 4, Chapter 2, Part 1 SHINRYU (Freya/Leo/Cor)
Was not sure of the exact details on this stage at the time of doing the run but it's a weird one. The boss' attacks are all Chaos difficulty tier, they basically don't do any damage to you. But the boss has a ton of HP and a 20 turn Force Time that negates HP Damage and they recover 2 million HP per turn. That puts you into a position where letting the bosses have turns is not ideal during their Force Time, but also you can't get rid of it unless you let them take turns or cancel the Force Time. So it's basically just a big punching bag of a boss.
I had Leo's LD kit already so I just threw some tickets for his FR, since I knew he would predictably cancel the Force Time. That's really the main reason I brought him, along with the immortality thresholds the boss has, since you need to delay to cancel them. I did also bring a Selphie LDCA for that just in case I needed to cancel that aura on Cor's turn but it actually didn't work for that.
Since the immortality thresholds are quite far apart due to the boss' massive HP pool, I didn't really see a need to try to rush the boss down with a Burst or anything, so I really took my time with this one, especially since the boss isn't very threatening. Since the boss gets more turns when it's Force Gauge is high, I made sure my own Force Times generally took place during that. I first let the gauge charge naturally, then used a Leo FR since it's a pretty solid general FR. Then the boss entered it's Force Time after my first one. It only got one turn to heal, then I called in Selphie friend to charge my gauge quickly and place her LD debuff. Then I used another Leo FR to cancel the enemy Force Time. Then I summoned at the end of that second Leo FR, and then used the remainder of the summon and Cor's Burst phase to charge the gauge again before the boss could charge theirs. Then I used Cor FR and used his FR echo towards the end of the Force Time to make sure I was finishing it off.
Most of the damage here was just letting Freya and Cor go off on the enemy turns. The enemy has a distinct pattern of doing an ALL attack every second turn, so Cor excels here with being able to use three follow-ups in one turn quite frequently. I managed to time the immortality thresholds fairly well to where I was either able to instantly cancel them with Leo, or it was outside of Force Time just as I reached them, meaning I could wait for Leo's turn to come up.
Should also note that I avoided delaying with Leo for most of the Force Time durations, since I wanted to fish for enemy turns.
