DFFOO [JP][Fusoya Event] Paralyze, Delete and delay turns with Ashe, Enna Kros, Seymour
It appears the entirety of May just hates me. I only wanted Fusoya LD but that did not came through either.
So for the time being I will have to settle with the good old Enna, Ashe + Seymour comp.
They are squishy bosses, but they also have 2 (technically 3) things that can ruin everything. So you can blow them up relatively easily and start BT early to skip through mechanics, but I tried to at least show what kind of things they would do, thus I pushed them a bit lower. Normally they are perfectly killable even at 70%+ by Seymour.
The FA/weakness are also kinda unique.
Boss: Grudge Lord x2
Force Mechanics:
0/50%: BRV dmg down I/II
60%: ATK down
FA: enter "Accumulating Strength!" state
All allies, without action delay, would use "Malice Sword++"
- Malice Sword++ means AOE death, guaranteed hit
- After 3 individual action, "Accumulated Strength dissipated" would happen, dispelling the above actions/effects
FT: 6 turns
- Player BRV dmg down
- Bosses would always use Malice Sword++
Note: I haven't been hit by this, but my guess is this exists as sort of a counter to Eiko auto-revive cheese. It is only 6 times though.
Threshold Events and Normal Behaviour:
Their ordinary attacks can all be dodged. Their BRV attacks generally hit very hard and either frame buff themselves or debuff you.
If they manage to use Malice Sword though, it would inflict Doom and Poison on to you, while doing AOE BRV+HP dmg.
There is also a move called Blood slash which can heal them base on how much BRV dmg they did. (BRV hits very hard)
There are 2 threshold events:
A. Blood Slash+ (ST guaranteed hit KO)
- When it happens, the boss (threshold triggers individually) warps to the front and does it with no action delay. Once a turn is passed, they will return to normal.
- If you paralyze them, they would not be able to carry out the attack.
- Since it is not a HP attack, HP attack disable does not stop it.
B. Drain Slash (ST HP Gravity to 10% of character's HP)
- It heals the boss according to the dmg dealt
- Although it does show HP dmg, since it is a gravity attack, Raijin LDCA cannot prevent the dmg.
- This attack can be dodged. If you want to take it, WoL LDCA can absorb the dmg.
- This attack, unlike A, triggers immediately without needing a boss turn. Even if they have paralysis on, they would still do it.
- The targeting of this attack is completely random and is not subjected to lock, like many off-turn threshold attacks before this.
- If you trigger multiple thresholds in one go, they will save up all of them and hit you when they can. It will not kill you, but without heals in between you will fail the dmg requirement.
The threshold triggers as follows:
90%: A
70%: B
60%: A
50%: B
30%: A+B
General idea:
The intended way to deal with the instant KO is with paralysis. If you have Fusoya, he has a ton of 2 turn paralysis. If you don't, like me, you can use Ashe, Agrias, Desch etc. Kam'lanaut is also exceptionally good for this, particularly if you have his BT. Any attack will stick a paralysis on them and with their turn warp, it will always give you a chance to move and break their no action delay streak.
Once you have measures against the instant KO attack, the rest you can either use evasion, turn deletion + turn delay to stop them from doing dmg. If you don't want to dodge but don't want to take the hit just before BT phase, WoL LDCA is a graceful solution to both the random targeting and gravity HP dmg. It will also take care of their high BRV dmg ordinary attacks.
Another problem this stage poses is the numerous amount of BRV dmg reduction and ATK down. I took Ifrit for the extra ATK up and sacrificed quite a bit of mBRV. The Leo CA debuff and Seymour's debuffs are also very helpful to dealing actual BRV dmg.
Enna Kros's job here is mainly to use her FR for HP dmg cap and delete enemies' turns with her EX. Obviously she combos very well with Ashe with refilling EX and negating the high action delay with her HP+. Ashe also provides the holy enchant needed for her FR, saving me one CA slot. As long as they don't go into FR, her paralysis would suffice. Although in the face of so many other debuffs, handling her unframed one requires extra care, especially if Seymour uses something with a lot of debuffs.
Seymour is here to soften up the targets and delay their turns. Since the bosses are quite squishy, he does not even need full power to kill them. My initial clear was BTing at 70%+. Since Drain slash only happens for the first time when they are under 70% HP, that can potentially save you a WoL CA slot for a Cait Sith one to provide mBRV and more stable output. To achieve that, Enna Kros may need to hold off from using her LD and Seymour may take one more move to be "ready to annihilate".
If you push the bosses down to below 50% or below, Ashe has to use her EX once to stop the KO move. Since their Drain slashes are off-turn attacks, the KO move is the only one that would consume the 1 turn paralysis.
